Spring 2019 Fashion Trends and Colors

Posted on January 17, 2019

Prints, Neon, Brights, Earthy Neutrals, Lace and so much more! Spring 2019 fashion has officially arrived.

‘Out with the old, in with the new,’ is a common mantra many people adopt each new Spring season. For Spring 2019, this means making room in the closet for earthy neutrals, bright colors, neon, python prints and vintage florals. Designers this season are marrying the bold and the sexy with these new and exciting trends.

Trend Watch: Spring Colors

The Pantone Institute announced their annual color predictions just before New York Fashion Week kick off. The color forecast claimed Living Coral as the color of the year for 2019. Along with living coral, Pantone predicted the rise of other rich, warm colors like shades of red, orange and yellow for the upcoming Spring/Summer season. Currently, we are loving Marigold Yellow and outfits with pops of bright red! Although we love to take a peek at what Pantone predicts each year, we have had our eyes on some other color trends as well…

This season, give your basics a jolt of excitement by adding a sleek METALLIC into the mix. Shimmery fabrics in gold, silver and rose gold will coordinate back beautifully with the neutral basics of your wardrobe. Keep is classic or add a fun colored metallic like pink, purple or blue. Anything goes this season! Don’t worry about being too extra in the daytime. Like last season’s ‘daytime sequins,’ the new statement is ‘daytime metallics!’ Try adding a metallic shoe, dress, pant or top to add some extra sparkle and shine to any Spring look.

Spring 2019 fashion trends are all about extremes – especially in COLOR. Our stylist’s are spotting a wide variety of color palettes for the new season. First, PRETTY PASTELS, always in-style, sweet hues of Spring. Trending pastel colors include lavender, lilac, baby blue, pinks and yellows. These gentle colors help give a lady-like vibe to any Spring wardrobe. Drifting away from pastels to the opposite end of the color spectrum, we have our super-saturated BOLD LIVELY HUES. These bright, edgy pop colors are eye-grabbing and fun. Just seeing these cheery colors helps to shake off some of those winter blues!

The past year we’ve seen little bursts of NEON here and there, but the trend is coming back for Spring! If you bought some neon earlier in the year, now’s the time to bring it back out. Adding touches of these supercharged, glowing colors will help add pops of interest. Our stylists love adding a jazzy, colorful shoe like the ones below to client’s wardrobes. These bold monochromatic suites really make a statement!

Trend Watch: Prints

There are prints, and then there are prints. 2018 brought us a lot of new, trending prints and patterns. Although some trends are moving forward the new Spring season, some are being transformed into something even new and better.

ANIMAL PRINTS were huge last year, and will continue to be into the new year. The new leopard print we are seeing inherently more regal and elegant, but it is not the only animal print we are seeing. SNAKE SKIN prints are a massive trend for Spring and Summer. We see this print not only on shoes and handbags but on tops, bottoms, and dresses, too! Hands down, our favorite way to incorporate this trend is with a snakeskin shoe, like these below. Which is your favorite?

Aside from animal prints, other trending prints this season include vintage florals and polka dots. While florals have become a mainstay for Spring fashion, the VINTAGE FLORAL trend takes big blossom prints in bold fabrics and colors and gives them a modern twist. LACE is a big trend for the new year. Although we usually think of lace as being lady-like and proper, we are seeing it worn in new, outside-of-the-box ways. Looser, over-sized silhouettes in sheer lacey fabrics are going to be huge for the warmer months.

For those who are into black and white basics, POLKA DOT is the perfect trending print to welcome into your wardrobe. Polka dot is one of the timeless prints that will continue to have longevity year after year. And last but not least, for you hippies (just kidding!), TIE-DYE is making a huge comeback! For those who aren’t afraid of a little color, this blast from the past print is showing up in a more wearable way. We love the tie-dye trend, and are really excited about introducing it into some of our more free-spirited wardrobes.
