Spring Closet Makeover: Before & After

Posted on March 7, 2019

Right before each Spring and Fall season, we prepare to transition our clients’ closets into the upcoming season. Currently, our style team is working on our clients’ Spring wardrobes. That means goodbye to darker colors, tall boots, heavy winter fabrics, wools and furs and hello to brighter colors and lighter, transitory fabrics. The season switch means it’s time for one thing: closet makeovers.

We have been hard at work preparing for Spring since the turn of the new year. Our personal shoppers have searched in-stores and online scouting the latest fashion trends. At the same time, our personal stylists have been scouring fashion magazines, runway shows, and high-end designer collections to find what is most in style for Spring. In our previous style blogs, we talked about Spring’s trends and colors, color schemes, the new season’s style statements and how to transition your closet effortlessly.

So, What is a Closet Makeover?

Often times, people have the impression that a closet makeover is just a closet cleaning. Yes, your closet will appear tidier when we are finished, but our style team is not in the business of cleaning closets, we are in the business of organizing them. BJ’s closet makeover process leaves the closet with only relevant clothing for the current season’s wardrobe, organized by category, style, and color.

Having the closet organized in this way makes coordinating outfits and getting dressed each morning a breeze. It also simplifies and streamlines the shopping process. When you can clearly see, right in front of you, what items your wardrobe has plenty of and what items it is lacking, then you are able to eliminate unnecessary spending and only purchase what you actually need each season.

Making the Switch

Several weeks ago, we gave our tips on how to transition your closet from Winter to Spring. Some of you may have started using our tips to begin making the transition into the new season. This week, we wanted to take it a step further, and give you a sneak peek of the results of BJ’s trademarked In-Home Wardrobe Consulting Process. This is what a typical closet transition is like from Winter to Spring for many of our clients. Sure, every closet and client’s needs are different, but the general process will not change despite any of the unique circumstances we come across.

Before

The first appointment for each of our clients always begins with the closet makeover. Without the closet organized and ready for the current season, we cannot create a color scheme, shopping list or coordinate outfits.

As you’ll see below, there are still a lot of visible winter items left in the closet. Darker color, heavier fabrics, winter wraps, and cold-weather shoes are still taking up most of the space in the closet. This lovely client of ours did a really good job of keeping her closet organized by the different clothing categories after our Fall/Winter wardrobe appointment last season – this makes our job easier each subsequent season!

After

After performing the BJ Wilson In-Home Wardrobe Consulting ProcessTM the closet starts coming together. Our stylists will go through the procedure outlined in our previous style blog post where we discussed the 5 simple steps we use to organize our client’s wardrobes.

Not only do we organize, color coordinate but we also edit and eliminate season to season. We encourage our items to let go of worn, dated, duplicated and wrong sized items. Getting rid of the old makes room for the new, right?! Check out the finished product below! Doesn’t this make you excited for Spring??

The Final Product

Check out these before (Winter) and after (Spring) pictures from our session with a client earlier this week. The in-home closet transition is the most important step in our wardrobe consulting process. The finished product is so worth the hard work!
