OK, yes, we know it’s now officially called the Charles Schwab Challenge, but to us locals, it will always be The Colonial. This week’s What to Wear guide is assuming that the weather will be back to sunshine and not this rainy, dark and dreary weather we’ve been experiencing the past weeks. It is spring in Texas though, so you never know. If you are wondering what to wear the the Colonial golf tournament keep reading to see our top picks!
If you are new to this event, know that there are three types of attendees; walkers, planters, and roamers. Walkers plan their arrival by the tee time of their favorite player and become part of the entourage following that player through the course. Planters pick their favorite hole, or favorite tent and become a permanent fixture at that location watching the action as each group makes their way to that hole. Roamers do a little of both, watching a little bit of the golf action, but are mostly focused on popping into as many party tents as possible for the refreshments and socializing.
The bonus feature that sets Colonial apart from its rival tournament on the other side of the metroplex is that alcohol is allowed on the course and not restricted to tents. Therefore this crowd tends to walk more and sit less, taking their famous margaritas with them as they roam. While heels and wedges might be de rigeur for the Byron, Colonial calls for flats. Stylish and comfortable, it really is so Fort Worth.
This year wear something playful, printed and perfect for Spring to the tournament. The best thing about these styles is they will help keep you cool if the temperatures are high. The exact reason why we love a breezy midi dress or skirt for these warmer months! Another great thing about these looks is that everything you see below is on trend for the Spring to Summer transition. That means you can keep wearing these clothes, shoes, and accessories all summer long. We love buying clothes that have some guaranteed longevity! Don’t you?
Shop the look on the left: A. Top, B. Midi Skirt, Bracelets C D and E, F. Straw Bucket Bag, G. White Flatform, H. Slide Sandal
Shop the look on the right: I. Hat, J. Midi Dress, K. Earring, L. Straw Circle Bag, M. Red Slide, N. Black Espadrille
These looks scream country club, but they also scream stylish! Beat the heat with either one of these more conservative golf tournament looks. Like the looks above, all of these items will also carry you through the summer months ahead. You could wear either of these outfits the way we styled them below, or swap out some of the accessories and shoes from outfit #1 with outfit #2! See, now there is even more incentive to go ahead and add it to the cart!

Ditch the sundress and go with some comfortable and casual denim. You can dress up your denim cutoffs or light wash denim totally by pairing it with one of these springy-frill tops but keep it casual at the same time with the shoe and accessories. Like the more conservative outfits above, you could still swap the accessories, shoes, and jewelry for either of these looks below. Everything will coordinate! How easy is that?
