Even though it hasn’t felt very ‘springy’ so far this year in DFW, we are well into the season. Before we know it, the weather will change to the standard over-90-degree summer days and our wardrobes will need to be weather appropriate to make it through the sunnier months ahead.
We pulled the hottest colors and trends for summer together so you can start planning your summer wardrobe now, before the heat wave sets in.
Pick a color or two that you could easily add into your already existing wardrobe. When choosing a trending color, pick one that will coordinate back with your basics and other items in your closet. Here’s our expert advice for a smarter way to add a new color into your wardrobe (eliminating the risk of never taking off the price tag). Before buying your new colored item ask yourself: Will this color coordinate with the rest of the colors in my closet? What are at least two ways I could use this item with things already in my closet? If you can answer these questions positively and love the item – make the purchase!
For trends, it is important to remember that every trend is not for everyone. Yes, there is a trend or two that will work for everyone, but not everything will be suitable for each individual’s body shape, aesthetic, lifestyle or basic wardrobe needs. When deciding on a trend to incorporate into your closet consider the following: Does this garment’s cut and shape flatter my body type? Does this item fit my lifestyle’s needs? (for example, if you are a stay at home mom and spend most of your days in casual clothes or workout gear, a trending stiletto may not be the most ‘wearable’ trend to add) And lastly, does this item coordinate back with other colors and items in my closet? If you can answer positively to these questions and love the item (the most important part!) – make the purchase!
If you missed our previous blog about the trending colors for Spring/Summer 2018 you can check it out here, but below we have included an image of the 2018 Trending Colors for Spring/Summer from Pantone.
As you can see, bright vibrant hues are ‘in’ for the warm weather months ahead. Bright pops of yellows, corals, and purples are everywhere. But we’ve also been seeing shades of red, pink, green and blue full force stores, runways and magazines as well.
There you have it! Your expert guide to this season’s hot colors and trends. Remember to ask yourself the important questions while shopping and picking items to build your wardrobe will avoid regretting the purchase later.
